Dependent upon when and where those homes were created, they could be made of stone, square, shingles or clapboard. Most farmhouses had porches since there was no circulating air through and cooling and many farm and family undertakings were endeavored there. The yard housetop gave shield from the sun and downpour yet empowered the cool breezes to course through and help make those sweltering summers not too bad.
